Seeing the Whole Person: The Enneagram in Clinical Work

Friday, October 16 | 12:30–2:00 PM CDT | Online

Using the Enneagram in therapy can give us another lens for understanding what’s happening beneath the presenting problem.

As therapists, we know there is often more going on than the symptoms a client initially brings into the room. We may see anxiety, relationship struggles, shame, emotional overwhelm, or patterns that seem to repeat despite insight and a genuine desire for change.

But what is happening underneath those patterns?

The Enneagram offers a nuanced framework for exploring the stories, motivations, fears, and protections that shape the way our clients see themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.

The Enneagram as a Tool in Therapy

The Enneagram is sometimes thought of simply as a personality typing system. In clinical work, however, I believe it can offer us something deeper.

Rather than putting clients into boxes, using the Enneagram in therapy can help us become more curious about the person sitting across from us.

Why might this particular response make sense?

What is this client protecting?

What story might be operating beneath the behavior?

What keeps showing up, even when the client wants something different?

The goal isn’t to label our clients. It’s to better understand the patterns beneath the patterns.

What We’ll Explore

In this introductory webinar, we’ll explore how the Enneagram can help therapists:

  • Recognize motivations and protective patterns beneath behavior
  • Deepen clinical curiosity beyond symptoms and presenting concerns
  • Understand why clients may experience the same circumstances very differently
  • Identify patterns that may contribute to clients feeling stuck
  • Approach clients with greater compassion and curiosity
  • Discover new possibilities for insight, growth, and healing

Who Is This Webinar For?

This webinar is designed for therapists and mental health professionals who are curious about incorporating the Enneagram into clinical work.

You do not need previous Enneagram training or experience to attend. We’ll begin with an introductory framework and focus on how the Enneagram can inform the way we understand and engage with our clients.

If you already have some familiarity with the Enneagram, this is also an opportunity to begin thinking beyond personality descriptions and explore its potential as a clinical lens.

Seeing the Whole Person

Our clients are more than their symptoms, diagnoses, behaviors, or coping strategies.

When we understand more about the stories and protections underneath those patterns, we have an opportunity to see the whole person with greater clarity and compassion.

My hope is that this introduction to the Enneagram in therapy gives you another way to ask meaningful questions, recognize what may be happening beneath the surface, and open new pathways toward healing.

I’d love for you to join me.
